OUR STORY

It was 2024, two Nigerian business executives touched down in Georgetown, Guyana on a business mission in one of the Caribbean's mostexciting economies. The city was alive with opportunity but something fundamental was missing. They were hungry. starving, not just for foodbut for home.

Restaurant after restaurant, day after day, no jollof rice, no pepper soup, no egusi, nothing for two professionals navigating high-stakes meetings on an empty stomach, the absence of familiar food was more than inconvenience.

It was exhausting, demoralising, a quiet and persistent ache then, on their final day, came a whisper, a name for African food delivery. A local cook, no restaurant, no signage, just a man who had quietly learned to prepare African dishes and was delivering them to a handful of Africans and Guyanese in Georgetown. They placed a call and when that first container of jollof rice and oha soup was opened, the smell hit them like a memory, like home. They exchanged numbers and held on tight.

The second visit in 2025 was the same story. Long days, important meetings, the same hunger. They called him again but this time, something had shifted he was juggling other commitments, cooking from home, his availability unpredictable. One man could not be the answer for an entire city full of people who felt exactly this way. And that is when the question arrived. The question that would not leave: "If we are suffering like this, how many others are?" Thousands of Guyanese want a taste of Africa, thousands of Africans visit Guyana every year for vacation, oil and gas business, for government. for family and every single one of them faces the same wall, no African food, no taste of home, no place to sit, eat, and dine any African meal. The gap was real, the pain was real the opportunity was undeniable.

The decision was made, business was registered, Red Chilli Africana Cuisine was born, not from a spreadsheet, but from hunger, from longing, and from the belief that African food deserves its rightful place in Georgetown, in CARICOM, and on the world stage.

Now, step into the vibrant world of Red Chilli Africana, where African culinary traditions come to life in a symphony of flavors.
